Mom shook her head. This wasn’t good. I needed a way to tell the team to stop doing magic and do their best to cover any emanations and I had no way to do so without using magic. We were far enough off the grid that the cell phones wouldn’t work without the little magical boost that Steve had given them. We should have had walkie talkies or something mundane. It was too late for that now though.
“Mom, get in your car,” I started moving off toward the woods. “If it looks like that helicopter is about to land, I’m going to take it out. Wait for it to hit the ground, then go flat out till you get to the main road. Once you’re there, slow down and try to drive like every other car you see. Go someplace public though. Don’t go home.”
