A few years back, one of Sarah Hoyt's sons wanted to be a girl.

His reason was that girls went on adventures but boys didn't.

IE The books pushed on him (not by Sarah) focused on girls having adventures and none focused on boys having adventures.

Of course, Sarah pointed him toward plenty of older books where boys had adventures.
